Macedon - Frankfort - Mr. Joseph Diliberto, 97, of Macedon, NY and formerly of Litchfield St., Frankfort passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010.
He was born in Madison, WI on May 22, 1912, the son of the late Salvatori and Gaitoni Bennardino Diliberto. When Joe was a child his family returned to San Giuseppe Jato, Province of Palermo, Sicily and he attended schools there. He and his family returned to our country on October 25, 1938. He served with the US Army during WWII in the European Theater and was Honorably Discharged on December 25, 1945. He was married to Marie Bonafede on July 10, 1948 in St. Mary's Church. Mrs. Diliberto passed away on December 1, 2008. Joseph was employed as a Custodian for Frankfort Schuyler Central School District, Frankfort for over 20 years until his retirement on September 1, 1976. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles and a member of D.A.V. Stars & Stripes Chapter 82, Utica and the Columbiana Society.
Joseph is survived by two sons, Salvatore Diliberto and Mary Jo Katona of Lansdale, PA and Joseph Diliberto and Christina Schonleber of Macedon, NY; his daughter in law, Karen Diliberto of Macedon; five granddaughters, Amy Diliberto, Lisa Diliberto and Jennifer Diliberto all of Macedon, Maria Diliberto of Lansdale, PA. and Heather Diliberto of Greenville, SC; four great grandchildren, Spencer, Brianna, Faith and Steven and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister Louisa Russo and one brother, Pasquale Patt Diliberto.
His funeral will be Thursday morning at 11:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
