In Loving Memory of Jon “Jack” George Hosney

April 26, 1936 – May 8, 2025

Jon “Jack” George Hosney, a lifelong resident of Frankfort, NY, passed away peacefully at home on May 8, 2025, at the age of 89 surrounded by his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, Jack leaves behind a legacy rooted in hard work, service, and an unshakable love for his community and family.

Born on April 26, 1936, Jack graduated from Frankfort High School in 1953. Shortly thereafter, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, stationed in Germany, an experience that shaped his strength, discipline, and hard work.

Upon returning home, Jack joined the family business, Corrado Milling Co. before going on to work for many years at Remington Arms. Jack was also an important part of Hilltop Greenhouses with his wife that served the Mohawk Valley for 28 years.

“Every hunter has a story; it is woven into their being”. Jack was a passionate hunter and outdoor enthusiast with a keen understanding of nature and firearm skills. Jack was a lifelong member of Jake’s Pond Hunting Club where he enjoyed autumn weekends with his good friends, the Martin men (Harold, Roger, Terry) and other like-minded companions.

Jack was a community fixture, known for his directness and dry sense of humor. He enjoyed simple pleasures like sipping coffee at Stewarts, a local fixture where he was always ready with a story, a laugh, or some neighborly wisdom.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife Dawn, of almost 62 years; his son, Jon Scott Hosney, and daughter-in-law Amy Hosney; his daughter, Maria Engelbrecht and son-in-law Jeffrey Engelbrecht; his cherished grandchildren: Jarrett (Kelcey Elijah) Engelbrecht, Katelyn (Gabriel Grann) Engelbrecht, Jon Paul Hosney, and Scott Hosney; and his sister, Mary Jo (James Criticos) Jepson. Jack also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack was predeceased by his parents Paul J. Hosney and Mayme (Corrado) Hosney.

Jack will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep-rooted values, and the lasting bonds he nurtured throughout his life.

Jack’s family would like to thank Dr. Paul Davidson, his staff, and the medical team within 3 West at Wynn Hospital. Along with his caregivers Kim, and Behija , “The Whirlwind.”

In addition, Jack’s loved ones are extremely grateful to Bridget and her family whose love, support, and urgency of action will never be forgotten.

His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, on Thursday May 15 th , 2025, at Annunciation, West Street, in Ilion, New York, and interment shall follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., Frankfort.
