John J. Szuba, 74, of Mohawk passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, in Little Falls Hospital.

John Szuba was born on July 18, 1951 in Utica the son of the late Joseph and Rita Szuba. He attended Utica schools and graduated from Proctor High School with the class of 1969. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. John was employed by Lowes, Herkimer and was a baker for Heidelberg Bakery for many years. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church.


John is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Joanne and Ryan Demars, Jessica and James Dygert and Jennifer Szuba and her fiancée, James Richer; his in laws, Alexander and Linda Fasolilli and Mary Ann Ruggiero; his grandchildren, Megan Szuba, Sophia Dygert, Michael Demars and Anthony Demars; his great grandson Rowan Doherty, who he loved more than life itself; a very special nephew, Peter Szuba and several cousins. John was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Szuba, his father and mother, Joseph and Rita Szuba his brother, Peter Szuba on April 5, 2010 and his niece, Staci Szuba.

His funeral will be held, Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Sts Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Justin Thomas, Pastor. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 4-7 at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, NY

His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Herkimer.
