Frankfort-W. Winfield- Mr. James G. Treen, 78, of 416 Second Ave. Extension, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007, at the home of Florence Treen in West Winfield. He was born in Rome, NY on November 12, 1928, the son of the late James and Audrey Dagwell Treen. He attended Herkimer and Frankfort schools. He was married to Catherine Latella on April 12, 1949 at St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Catherine passed away on December 24, 1990. Mr. Treen was employed by Chambers Oil Company, Marcy, as a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ilion, German Maennechor, and the Eagles Club. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends sharing stories, dining out, hunting and going to the car races. James is survived by two sons, James J. Treen, Murrieta, CA and Mark S. Treen, Frankfort; three daughters and three son-in-laws, Catherine and Samuel Altieri, Las Vegas, Wendy Lambert, Frankfort, Cindy and Dominick Alsheimer, Mexico, NY, and Leo Griffin, Frankfort. He was predeceased by his daughter Tammy Griffin on November 23, 2003. James is also survived by his companion, Florence Treen; extended family, Jimmy Treen, David Treen, Joe Paratore and Joan Citriniti, all of Utica; his grandchildren, Marie and Jeremiah Schmidt, Michelle and Dominick Bianchi, Daryl and Suelene Hagen, Janaysa Lambert, James Lambert, Carly Griffin, Catherine Alsheimer, Mark Treen, Jesse Treen and Rachael Treen; his great-grandchildren, Trey and Tanner Bianchi and Bryce and Jack Hagen; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ann Treen, Ilion; two sisters, Mella Brown, Newport, and Edith Treen, Herkimer; his in-laws, John Lytwynec, Ilion, Paul and Catherine Latella, Frankfort, and Mamie Latella, Sacramento, CA.; and many special nephews, nieces cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by one brother, Fred Treen; and one sister, Cora Lee Lytwynec. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 1:30 in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Dr. Andrew Peloubet, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ilion, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 at V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Jim's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Freddy, Dale, Missy, Jessy and Trisha for their wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his illness and passing.
