Frankfort - Mr. James K. "Jake" Jacobs Jr., 50, of 504 S. Litchfield St. passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009 at home following a long illness with his loving family by his side. He was born in Ilion on April 28, 1958, the son of James K. Sr. and Margaret Mower Jacobs. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated with the class of 1976. He was a member of Frankfort United Methodist Church. Jake was owner and operator of Jacobs Custom Machine in Charlotte, North Carolina prior to his illness. He was an avid Harley Davidson fan and spent many hours customizing Harley's for his customers and friends. Jake is survived by his mother and step father, Peggy and Otto Thuener of Frankfort; four sisters and one brother in law, Sandra Cambridge and Caryl Temple of Little Falls, Cindy and Dennis Dupont of Chattanooga, TN, Laura Jacobs of Frankfort, and Ann Briggs of Ilion; one brother and sister in law, David and Maryanne Briggs of Frankfort; Jim's former wife and close friend, Katheryn Jacobs of Texas; a special uncle, Jack Mower; long-time friends Jim Seaman and Joe Reina; his beloved canine, Scooter; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by father, James K. Jacobs Sr. His funeral will be held Saturday at 2:00 in the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday 12:00 until the time of the service at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jake's memory may be made to Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 State Rte 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407 or to American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Jake's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and caregivers of Hospice Care for the wonderful care and kindness shown to him during his illness and passing.
