Ilion - Mr. James C. Heady, 79, of 80 E. North St passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
He was born in Monterey, TN on December 29, 1929, the son of the late Carlin Swafford and Artie Modester Elrod Heady and he attended Calfkiller School. James served our country for 8 years with the US Army and later for 8 years with the US Air Force and was Honorably Discharged at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome. He was at one time employed by Ohio Refrigerators, Dayton, OH and later for Midtown Motors, Ilion. Mr. Heady was later employed by Teledye-Stillman's, Cookeville, TN for over 26 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Johnson's Baptist Church, Monterey, TN.
James is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Sandra Lee & Roscoe Morris of Cookeville, TN, Deborah Gwen & Douglas Rice and Lisa Faye & Terry Gollegly all of Ilion, NY, one son, Gene Carl Heady of Livingston, TN; one brother & sister in law, Robert Glenn & Tina Heady of El Paso, TX; his grandchildren, Scott Snedeker, Sarah Delk, Brandy & her husband, Mathew Edmunds, Douglas & his wife, Lorri Rice Jr, Jessica Rice, Michele Gollegly and T J Gollegly; eleven great grand children and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Royce Heady and William Heady.
His funeral will be held at the convenience of the family in the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. Interment will be in the family plot in Bohannon's Cemetery, Monterey, TN. There will be no public calling hours. Contributions in James's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502-5949 or the Herkimer County Humane Society, Rt. 5, Herkimer, NY 13350.
James' family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the 2nd floor of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home especially Michele, Kaleigh, Robin and Carol for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his stay and passing.
