Jack P. Terrell Sr.
Herkimer - Jack P. Terrell Sr, 94, of Herkimer, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at home with his family by his side.
He was born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 1, 1930, the son of the late James and Inez VanBrackle Terrell and he attended schools there. While Jack was working on the New York State Thruway, he went to get coffee and met his future wife. He was united in marriage to Clara Cortese on November 27, 1954, in St. Anthony's Church. Clara passed away on December 19, 2024. Jack was employed as a heavy equipment operator and mostly operated the Grader for several construction companies and retired from Ritangela Construction Co., Bardonia, NY. Jack was a member of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church.
Jack is survived by two sons and one daughter in law; Jack Perry Terrell, Jr. of Frisco City, AL, and Scott and Stacey Terrell of Baldwinsville, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Andrew Hobika of Clinton, NY; his beloved grandchildren, Kayla and her husband, Daniel Sheridan, Kyle and his wife, Catherine Terrell, Kelsey Terrell, Marissa Hobika, Andrew Hobika Jr, Matthew Hobika and Alexis Hobika; his great-grandchildren, Jack Sheridan, Shea Sheridan, Ava Terrell, Teddy Terrell, and Parker Terrell, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Everett Terrell and Lamar Terrell, and two sisters, Louise Barrett and Emily Beckel.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment for Jack and his beloved wife, Clara, will be in Calvary Cemetery. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
Jack’s family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to his caregivers, Tracy Huxtable, Brigid Hadcock Jones, Alija Bakalovic and Melissa Cline.
