Mr. Iwan Pilat
Herkimer - Mr. Iwan Pilat, 88, of 705 Westwood Dr passed away Monday, September 26, 2005 in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born in East Ukraine on May 12, 1917, the son of the late Tolnt and Manmt Pilat and he attended schools there. He was married to Anastasia Kanba on April 28, 1905 in Germany. Mr. Pilat was employed as a utility man for Western Electric, Carney, N.J. for many years until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Iwan is survived by his beloved wife, Anastasia Pilat; his granddaughter, Patricia Pilat of Rolington, NJ; his grandson, William Pilat Jr of Rolington, NJ and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the Ukraine. He was predeceased by his son, William Pilat Sr in January of 1996.
His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 am in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Fr. Yaroslav Stebelskyy, pastor officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Wednesday evening from 4-7 P.M at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home with Father Stebelskyy, officiating.
