Irene H. Krupa

Herkimer-  Irene H. Krupa, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Mary Imogene Basset Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Ohio, NY, on July 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Victor Helmes and the late Edna (Bussey) Helmes.  Irene graduated from local schools and would go on to obtain a degree from the Utica School of Commerce. On July 3, 1959, Irene married Felix J. Krupa, Jr, a loving union of 62 years, prior to his passing on February 27, 2022. She was employed with Agway and with Walmart until her retirement. Irene was a communicant of the Lutheran Church in Herkimer.

Irene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, spending time at Dollywood, and Gospel music events. Irene loved going to bible study and book club where she made many lasting friendships over the years.

She is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah Bongiorno of Mohawk, and Linda and her husband, Chris Elliott, of CA; one sister-in-law, Karen Krupa of E. Herkimer; her grandchildren, Nicole Krupa, Bethany (Josh) King, Mara (Zachary) Lasher, and Kelsie Bongiorno; four great-grandchildren, Kylie Coffin, Leena Carpenter, Levi King, and Owyn King ; several nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as her beloved feline kids, Zeb and April.

A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Private interment will take place in Mountain View Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved, Felix.
