Frankfort - Mr. George A. Palumbo, 76, of 300 Fourth Ave passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 17, 2009 while on vacation in Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, BC. George was born in Frankfort on September 25, 1932, the son of the late Frank and Theresa Chard Palumbo. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School with the class of 1951. He later attended and graduated from MVCC in 1954 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. George served with the US Army as an SP4 and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1962. Mr. Palumbo was employed as a Draftsman for Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome until his retirement in 1992. George served as the Town of Frankfort Assessor for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member the Amen Choir. George is survived by two brothers and sisters in law, Frank and Terry Palumbo of Frankfort, and James and Mary Fran Palumbo of Schuyler; one sister and brother in law, Phyllis and Michael Fiorentino of Frankfort, and his in-laws Vita Palumbo and Joseph Bellino, both of Frankfort and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his two brothers and one sister in law, Alex and Connie Palumbo and Joseph Palumbo; two sisters and one brother in law, Rose Bellino, Frances Tomaino, and her husband Michael. His funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S Frankfort St, Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the V.Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on George's online memorial by going to www.iocovozzifuneralhomes.com
