Frank Zito

Barneveld - Mr. Frank Zito , 90, of Barneveld formerly of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 in the St. Luke's Home after a brief illness. He was born in Frankfort on June 30, 1917, the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta La Puma Zito.He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort- Schuyler High School. On February 5, 1944 he married Mary G. Gaherty, a blessed union of thirty-three years until her passing in 1978. Frank was employed by the NY Central Railroad until his retirement. Together along with their son, Jim, they owned and operated Beachley's Motel & Restaurant in Barneveld. Frank was a member of the Elk's and the Ft. Schuyler Post of the American Legion. Mr. Zito is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law: Jim & Linda Zito of Barneveld, three sisters and one brother-in-law: Mary DiMartin of the Town of Frankfort, Grace Cardinal of Frankfort, and Nina & Don Van Valkenburg of Ilion, two sisters-in-law: Jane Zito & RoseMary Zito both of Frankfort, as well as several nieces, nephews & cousins. He is also survived by his special canine friend, Garcey. He was predeceased by three brothers; Jack, Paul & Bennie Zito His funeral will be held Monday evening at 6:00pm at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort with the Rev. Alfred Lamanna officiating. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 3-6pm at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the staff of Clark North at the St. Luke's Home, especially Wanda for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Frank during his stay there.
