Utica - Frankfort - Mr. Frank McCann, 84, of Utica, formerly of Frankfort, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, December 5, 2015 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He was born in Binghamton on November 18, 1931, the son of the late Frank and Catherine Slater McCann and he attended Utica Free Academy. He faithfully served his country during the Korean War in the US Army from November 17, 1953 until his Honorable Discharge on October 6, 1955. During his time in the services he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and earned several medals for good conduct and service. He was married to Ruby Rose Weaver on June 13, 1961 in Mount Rose, PA. Ruby passed away on April 26, 2000. Frank was at one time employed with the Foster Paper Company in Yorkville and later with Rock City Box in Utica for many years as a Tow Motor Operator until his retirement in 1994. He was most recently employed with Walmart in North Utica as a door greeter for the past 11 years as a hobby. Frank is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Carol and David Stimpson of Utica, Cheryl McCann and her companion, Earl Clipston, Sr. of Clinton and Tammy McCann and her fiancé, Eugene Ray of Sauquoit; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his beloved granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Harry Dapre III and their children, Harry IV and Addison; one sister and brother in law, Laura and Anthony Gelfuso of Utica; three brothers and two sisters in law, Ronald and Theresa McCann, Thomas and Nancy McCann and Richard McCann, all of Utica and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Harry McCann and his sister in law, Diane. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 AM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. Interment will follow in Oak View Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 4-7 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Frank's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of US Care and the Syracuse and Rome VA for the kindness shown to Frank over the years.
