Frances Matthews

Frankfort – Mrs. Frances Matthews, 90, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, in Mohawk Valley Health Care Center.

She was born in Herkimer, New York, on October 20, 1933, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Norod Cirelli. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School.

She was married to Richard Matthews on October 19, 1979, in Herkimer. Richard passed away on July 4, 2003. Frances was employed by General Electric, Utica, for many years and assisted her husband at Dick’s Restaurant, Mohawk, until his retirement in 2002.   Frances was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.

Frances is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Betsy Cirelli of Herkimer, and Nick and Dorothy Cirelli of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Pauline Cesarini of Bradenton, FL, and Gloria MacComber of Schuyler, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Cirelli and Joseph Cirelli; one sister, Dolores Restante, and her niece, Andrea Hilsinger.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Oak View Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 1 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
