Eunice D. Hanson

Frankfort Center- Mrs. Eunice D. Hanson, 90, of 561 Center Rd. passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in New York Mills on May 5, 1925, the daughter of the late Edgar and Sarah Lord Dougherty. She attended Frankfort Center School and graduated from Proctor High School with the class of 1943. She later attended and graduated from Utica School of Commerce. Eunice served our country during World War II with the US Navy and was Honorably Discharged on October 8, 1946. She was married to Gerald D. Hanson on September 21, 1946 in First Presbyterian Church, Geneva. Jerry passed away on March 4, 2000. Eunice was employed at the Jim Brock Agency and later as a Clerk for UFCW Local #1, Utica for many years. She was a member of WAVES National, Leather Stocking Unit of the WAVES Chapter 26, Edward Clonan Post 1000 American Legion, Chadwicks, Parkway Senior Citizens and a former member of the DAR. Eunice served as Vice President, Past President and former Sextant of Frankfort Center Cemetery Association. She was very proud of writing a book called "Frankfort Center, My Little Corner of the World" in 2004. Eunice is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Patricia Manley and her fiancé, Thomas Talarico of Frankfort Center and Shelley and Mark Cushman of Ilion; she also has four grandchildren, John Manley of West Seneca, Joseph and his wife, Heather Manley of Liverpool, Kerry Manley of Deerfield and Christiana Cushman of Herkimer; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Manley and Emma Manley her close friends, GloriaMary Infusino, Betty Slaper and Ron and Debbie Testa and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Lois Dougherty in September of 1923. Her funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, with the Rev. Brian Engel, officiating. Interment will be in Frankfort Center Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 4-8 at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Edward Clonan Post 1000 American Legion will meet Tuesday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eunice's memory may be made to Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St, Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
