Erik Jay Smith

Forney, TX - Ilion - Mr. Erik Jay Smith, 46, of 2447 Deacon Drive, Forney, TX, formerly of Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 19, 2013 in Franklin, TN. He was born in Ilion, NY on March 18, 1967, the son of Curtis and Mary Louise Wilson Smith. He attended Ilion schools and graduated from Ilion High School with the class 1985 with High Honors. He later attended HCCC and then Utica College and received degrees in Computer Science and Business Management. He was married to Michelle Fulton on September 1, 2007 in Frankfort. Erik was employed by NDS of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for 22 years before moving to Texas. He later was a Computer Safety Consultant for AVAAP USA, Inc., New Jersey. Erik is survived by his wife, Michelle Smith; his mother, Mary Louise Smith; three daughters, Jordan Fulton and her husband, Steven Buckner of Forney, TX, Julia Fulton of Mesquite, TX, Jessica and her husband, Justin Sokolic of Mesquite, TX; one son, Joshua Fulton of Mesquite, TX; one brother, Dennis Smith of Ilion; two grandchildren, Brayden Buckner and Brooklyn Sokolic; his aunts, Marilyn Hughes of Whitesboro, Harriett Wilson of Scotia, Betty Vanderbilt of Ilion, Nancy Ebersold of Chittenago, Rosetta Smith of Madison and Carol Rex of Ilion and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Curtis H. Smith on October 3, 2009. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with Rev. Brian Engel officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 PM at the V.J.
