Edwin A. Dawidowicz

E. Herkimer - Mr. Edwin A. Dawidowicz, 80, of 122 Eastwood Dr. passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Edwin was born in Herkimer on July 6, 1931, the son of the late Zennon and Mary Dawidowicz. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1950. He served with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on January 3, 1954. Edwin was united in marriage with Mary Fasolilli on May 21, 1955 in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. He was employed with G.T.E. of Ft. Plain and later in the Communication Department at Griffiss Air Force Base until his retirement on September 2, 1994. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of the St. Anthony's Crusaders. He was an avid golfer and had a hole in one on August 2, 2001 on the 3rd hole at the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course. Edwin is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Dawidowicz; one daughter and son in law, Susan and Dennis Tarnacki of Frankfort; two sons and one daughter in law, David and Jolee Dawidowicz of E. Herkimer and Edwin Dalston of Clifton Park; two sisters and one brother in law, Helen Balderston of Little Falls and Stella and Frank Roe of E. Herkimer; his grandchildren, Jay Tarnacki, Ryan Dawidowicz, Courtney Dam and Brittani Dalston; his in laws, Jennie Fasolilli, Gilda and Robert Murphy and Sue Dawidowicz and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by six brothers, John Dawidowicz, Stanley Dawidowicz, Edmund "Mungie" Dawidowicz, Henry Dawidowicz, Ernie Dawidowicz and Walter Dawidowicz as well as three sisters, Ida House, Irene Dawidowicz and Charlotte "Lottie" Serban. His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 9:30 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
