Doris Gage

Herkimer - Mrs. Doris W. Gage, 99, formerly of Maple Grove Ave. passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 with her family by her side in the home of her daughter, Shirley. For the past four years, Doris would reside with her children in their homes. She was born in Ilion on March 15, 1911, the daughter of the late George and Reba Bremer Watson and she attended Ilion schools. She was married to Charles A. Gage on February 22, 1930 in Columbia Center Methodist Church. Mr. Gage passed away on February 2, 1983. Mrs. Gage was one of the original Checker for Remington Arms, Ilion until her retirement in 1972 after 38 years of dedicated service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Herkimer. Doris is survived by two daughters, Shirley Tripple of Schuyler and Charlotte Reynolds of Ilion; one son, Ronald Gage of Punta Gordo, FL; one brother, Raymond Watson of Ilion; her grandchildren, Donna and her husband, Bernie Gerrer, Joseph Tripple Jr. and his wife, Theresa, Linda Tripple, Steven Tripple and his wife, Jenny, Michael Reynolds and his wife, Cathy, Joanne Reynolds and her companion, Karl Bladak, Karen Reynolds and her partner, Tammy Totaro, Diane Yamano and Lisa and her husband, Jeff Santo; fifteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son in law, Joseph Tripple, Sr. and her sister in law, Margo Watson. Her funeral will be held Friday at 10:00am in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer with the Rev. Janet Gleason, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 4-7 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home. Doris' family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hospice for the wonderful care shown to her during her illness and passing.
