Dolores "Dory" Aloisio

Herkimer - Dolores C. "Dory" Aloisio, 83, of Herkimer passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 peacefully at home.

She was born in Syracuse, New York on April 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Joseph Mary Szpera Karecki. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1958.She was married to Dominick  Aloisio on August 31, 1963 in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. He passed away on March 23, 2015.  Dolores was a Director for Herkimer County Employment and Training for many years. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and served on the Board of Directors of the Mohawk Homestead.

Dory is survived by her daughter, Valarie Aloisio Webster of Rochester; her grandson, Jack Webster of Webster, NY; two sisters, Irene Czuryla of Herkimer and Frances Schiedel of Sheridan CA; her in laws, James and Kathy Aloisio and Mary Lou Hennessy and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Eleanor Karecki and Anna Tarasewicz and her brothers, Joseph Karecki and Theodore Sosnoski.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023 at 9:45 AM from the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church S. Main St., Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, Pastor. Spring Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 4-7 at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Her funeral arrangmenets are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.

Contributions in Dory's memory may be made to Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 507 Kent St, Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
