Dennis John Van Dusen passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at his home in Pinellas Park, Fl. He was born on August 13, 1941 to John and Helen (Frank) Van Dusen in Frankfort, N.Y. Dennis’s journey through life was marked by his many personal achievements.
Dennis was educated in Frankfort, N.Y., and went on to earn as associate degree from Utica College. He joined the United States Army Reserves and earned a position as an X-ray technician. He was employed by Remington Rand in Ilion, N.Y. and continued with them as they became UNISIS Corporation, working alongside his father and brother. His position as Technical Supervisor allowed his travels with the company to New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago. He retired from his work career with Global Crossing in Clearwater, Fl. A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, he spent many years hunting in New York and Pennsylvania with his father, brother and friends. His Italian heritage passionately compelled him to make homemade wine alongside his brother, Richard (Rick) Van Dusen who predeceased him in 2003. Dennis proudly displayed many trophies he won “showing” his prize possession, a vintage 1977 yellow corvette. One of his best journeys was traveling to Italy. He enjoyed his phone calls to all his “out of state” buddies reminiscing the past and catching up on the latest news. As a man of faith, he attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinellas Park and believed deeply in our Lord, especially devoted to our Blessed Mother.
Dennis leaves behind one daughter, Dedra Jon Van Dusen of Philadelphia, three sisters, Jacqueline Bonn and brother-in-law John (Hank) Bonn of Enterprise, Alabama, Donna Minosh and brother-in-law Charles (Charlie) Smith of Dunedin, Fl and Maureen Cancelino of Clearwater, Fl., along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in March of 2025.
Memorial mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church at a later date
Interment will be at Mt. Olivet, Frankfort, N.Y., on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM
May our Lord’s comfort, peace and light bring Dennis eternal rest.
