Clara T. Potenza
Frankfort - Clara T. Potenza, 96, of 106 Seventh Ave. passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Bassett Health Care with her family by her side.
She was born on Wednesday, January 5, 1921 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Anthony and Lucy Biase Macri and she attended Herkimer schools. Clara was married to Anthony Potenza on July 17, 1942 in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Anthony passed away on December 28, 1969. Clara was a seamstress at several local dress factories and retired from Joy Taylor, Mohawk in 1983. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Apostles Church and a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens, Red Hat Society and the American Legion Aux.
Clara is survived by her daughter and son in law, Lucille and Charles Hand of Frankfort; two sons and one daughter in law, Anthony Potenza of Trumansburg and David and his wife, Ingrid Potenza of San Francisco; two sisters and one brother in law, Rita and Francis Varano of Herkimer and Frances Talarico of Broadalbin; her in laws, Marilyn Macri of Herkimer, Elvira Potenza and Joseph Potenza, both of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Joseph Main, Sr., Nicole and her husband, David Reynolds, Dakota Potenza and his companion, Nana, Adam Potenza, Noah Potenza, Dr. Korin Potenza and her husband, Dr. Nicholas Huggons, Kirsten Potenza and her husband, Jeremy Simpson and Brita Potenza; her great-grandchildren, Shante Hand, Nico Potenza, Aubrey Reynolds and Camille Reynolds and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her Step Mother, Teresa Macri; her sisters, Lucy Losito, Liz Bonilla, Antoinette Costello, Carmella Furlong, Anna Theresa Macri Smith, Catherine Parise and Mary Patrocca and three brothers, Nick Macri, Anthony "Sonny" Macri and Peter Macri.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:45 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Tuesday at 4:15 PM at the funeral home for services.
