Mr. Charles H. Anthony Mohawk - Mr. Charles H. Anthony, 87, of 2440 St Rt 28 passed away Friday, November 26, 2004 peacefully in his home. He was born in Newall, PA on December 30, 1916, the son of the late Harry and Tekla Mikovich Anthony. He attended Herkimer Schools and graduated from Van Horneville High School and later attended night class at MIT. He served with the US Army during WWII in both the European and the Pacific Theaters with the Army´s Ordinance Division as a First Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged on May 7, 1946. Chuck was married to Anne Homiack on July 12, 1948 in SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, a blessed union of 56 years. Mr. Anthony was employed as a Supervisor Of Manufacturing Engineers for Univac, Ilion & Utica Plant until his retirement on March 1, 1977 after 46 years of dedicated service. He later was employed by MDS until retiring in 1982. He was an active member of S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church and served as a Past President. He was instrumental in the building of the new church in East Herkimer. Chuck enjoyed classical music, fishing and boating. He at one time played the Violin with the Utica City Orchestra.. Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Anthony; one son, Charles P. Anthony of San Francisco, CA; one brother, Michael Anthony of Mohawk; his in laws, Samuel & Jean Homiack of Bradenton, FL and Joyce Demchko of E. Herkimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, PFC Frank Anthony US Army KIA July 3, 1944 and one sister, Anne Dziedic His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 AM in S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church with Archpriest James M. Jadick, Pastor Officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter And Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 4-7. at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Sunday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home with Fr. Jadick, Officiating. Contributions in Charles's memory may be made to SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church Memorial Fund or Hospice Care. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Chuck´s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Nurses and Staff "His Angels" of Hospice and his neighbor and friend, Betty Frederick and her daughters, Karen & Susie for the wonderful care and assistance given to him during his illness and passing.
