Herkimer - Mrs. Carmella Klys, 90, of William St. passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in the Folts Home. She was born in Herkimer on May 7, 1924, the daughter of the late Nunziato and Frances Surace. She was married to John "Yono" Klys, Jr. on April 29, 1950 in St Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Yono passed away on November 22, 2004. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church. Carmella is survived by three sisters and two brothers in law, Ida and Walter Gronemeyer of Palm Desert, CA, Mary Gigliotti of Herkimer and Josephine "Cookie" and John Iocovozzi of Palm Coast, Fl. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by eight sisters, Catherine Giambrone, Dolores Facilli, Yolanda De Mars, Nancy Procopio, Antoinette Rando, Frances Poccia, Helen Vella and Angeline Surace and three brothers, Jamaine Surace, John Surace and James "Chappy" Surace. Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Terence Healy and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
