Mrs. Carmela F. Spatola Frankfort - Mrs. Carmela F. Spatola, 95, of 206 Fourth Ave passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. She was born in Frankfort on November 17, 1911, the daughter of the late Giuseppe (Joseph) and Victoria (Grace) Ragusano Sgroi and she attended Frankfort schools. She was married to Dominick Spatola on September 20, 1930 in St. Mary's Church. Mr. Spatola passed away on December 13, 1980. Mrs. Spatola was an Assembler for Univac Ilion & Utica Plants for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a former member of the Young At Heart Senior Citizens. Carmela is survived by two sons & one daughter in law, Joseph & his wife, Judge Jo-Anne Spatola of Scotch Plains, NJ and Robert Spatola of Frankfort & his companion, Gail Aldi; her sister & brother in law, Rose & Joseph Crociata of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Dr. Madeleine Becker & her husband, Dr. Daniel Becker, Michael Spatola and Marc Spatola & his fiancee, Stephanie Saey; two great grandchildren, Sophia Becker and Corey Becker; one sister in law, Angie Spatola of FL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ann Spatola on March 9, 1999, four brothers, Nick Sgroi, Sam Sgroi, Frank Sgroi and Joseph P. Sgroi and three sisters, Grace Sgroi, Pauline Semario and Vita Carlesimo. Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 9:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Carmela was a hard-working, loving and caring person whose life was devoted to her family and friends. Her concern for others and their well-being was always a part of her character. Her goodness and kindness was a trait recognized by all who knew her. Carmela's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Allen Calder Wing's 3rd Floor East of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
