Clayville - Mrs. Carmel Jackson, 91, of 374 Butcher Rd. passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 in St. Luke's Home.
She was born in Frankfort on May 30, 1920, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Cacciatore Costello and she attended Frankfort Hill and later Frankfort High School where she graduated with the class of 1938. She was married to Michael Jackson on June 6, 1942 in Frankfort Italian Methodist Church. Mike passed away on February 23, 2009. Carm was a co-owner and operator of Jackson's Farm along with her husband for many years. She was at one time employed by Prime Cleaners, GE, French Rd Plant and A&P New York Mills until her retirement in1975. She was a member of Frankfort United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens as well as the Senior Bowling League.
Carm is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Robert and Patricia Jackson of Litchfield and Michael, Jr. and Stephanie Jackson, of Albany; two sisters, Frances Roberts and Irene Deveans; her five beloved grandchildren, Colleen Jackson, Meghan Jackson and Nicholas Jackson all of Delmar, Shawn Jackson of Litchfield and Scott and Jennifer Jackson of Parish, and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Scott Jackson and Alexis Jackson; her special neighbors, Betsy Walker and Richard Lewek and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Tony Costello, and four sisters, Eva Camerona, Phyllis Jones Mary Jackson and Tina Costello.
Her funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in Frankfort United Methodist Church, Acme Rd. Frankfort with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, officiating. Interment will be in Oak View Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
Members of the Young at Heart Seniors will meet Sunday at 3:45 at the funeral home for services.
