Frankfort - Mrs. Assunta "Sadie" Tocco, 90, of 334 Second Ave., passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Herkimer on November 29, 1919, the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Prumo Piscione and she attended Herkimer schools. Sadie was married to Sam J. Tocco on June 18, 1938 in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Tocco passed away on October 27, 2008. She was at one time employed by State St. Mills and later for MDS. She was an employee of Mele Manufacturing, Utica, for many years until her retirement in 1981. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Sadie will always be remembered for welcoming family and friends to her home and for her love of cooking and baking for them. Sadie is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Joseph and Susan Tocco of Frankfort and Salvatore and Rosalia Tocco of Hopkinton, MA; her grandchildren, Jodi and her husband, Patrick Doolen, Christopher Tocco and Stephen Tocco; her great grandchildren, Patrick, Kayla and Joseph Doolen; one sister, Josephine Ferrucci of Herkimer, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her special friend and neighbor, Catherine Hext. She was predeceased by her grandson, Joseph S. Tocco on August 29, 2003, five brothers, Tony, Frank, George, John and Ralph and four sisters, Fannie, Elvie, Mamie and Margaret. Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Sadie's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center ICU especially Sandy for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
