Mrs. Anne Sokerka
Little Falls - Mrs. Anne Sokerka, 80, of 160 Kelly Rd passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in her home.
She was born in Olyphant, PA on March 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Maliniak and she attended schools there. She was married to Michael Sokerka on October 14, 1950 in SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church. Mr. Sokerka passed away on September 26, 1996. Mr. & Mrs. Sokerka were the owners and operators of their family farm for over 68 years. She was a Communicant of SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church.
Anne is survived by two daughters & sons in law, Maryanne & Ed Mamrosch of Dolgeville and Michele & Richard Long of Little Falls; one son & daughter in law, John & Liz Sokerka of New Smyrna Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Jeff Osley, Paul Sokerka, Christopher & his wife, Holli Long, Tiffany & her husband, Frank McGivern and David Sokerka; one great grandson, Hunter McGivern; her beloved canine, Furby and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son, Paul Sokerka on July 25, 1970, two brothers, Nicholas Maliniak KIA WWII and Martin Maliniak and two sisters, Dottie Karpowich and Tatiana Kosciowiat.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 10:00 am in S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church with Archpriest James M. Jadick, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be Thursday evening at 7:30 at the funeral home with Father Jadick officiating. Contributions in Anne's memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY, 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Anne's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hospice especially Deb Dillon for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
