Anna Thornton

Herkimer - Anna Thornton, 95, of  Herkimer, passed away, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Homelife at Folts with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Richfield Springs on March 4, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia Ilvanczyk Dudish. She was married to Eugene Thornton on October 4, 1986 in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer. Eugene passed away on March 19, 1990. She was a devout member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Churh and a member if it's Sisterhood and served as Past President and a member of the VFW Post #4915 Ladies Aux.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Anna Smith of Little Falls; three brothers, John Dudish of Little Falls, Frank Dudish of Canastota and Nick Dudish of Ilion;  five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Samsel and her brother Michael Dudish.

Her funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 AM the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 AM from St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Church, 324 Moore Ave. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home with Parastas at 7:30 PM.

Anna's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Folts Home for the kindness and compassion shown to her during her stay and passing.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory may be made to St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Church Building Fund, 324 Moore Ave. Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
