Frankfort - Mrs. Adeline Mary "Lena" Torchia, 87, of 611 Reese Rd., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in the home of her son and daughter in law, Louis and Elena in Abingdon, MD.
She was born in Utica on January 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Sam and Mary Coriale Graziano and she attended Utica schools. She was married to Philip "Slugs" Torchia on August 3, 1952 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mrs. Torchia was at one time employed by GE, Utica and later in the Dietary Department for Mohawk Valley Hospital, Ilion until her retirement after 22 years of service. She was later employed in the cafeteria of Frankfort Schuyler High School. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.
Adeline is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Philip "Slugs" Torchia; one son and daughter in law, Louis and Elena Torchia of Abingdon, MD; two granddaughters, Whitney and Sofialena; one sister, Antoinette Passante of W. Frankfort; her sister in law, Agnes DiMaggio of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Victoria Vedete and Rose Mieskowski.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 in the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
